Coast Electric sponsors two high school juniors from Hancock, Harrison and Pearl River County high schools for an all expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. as a part of the Youth Tour. The Youth Tour program is sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), which brings more than 1,400 high school juniors from across the nation to Washington, D.C. where they learn about cooperatives and rural electrification from a national perspective. They also visit significant monuments and memorials and enjoy other wonderful sightseeing experiences.
The participants are chosen through an application, reference, team-building and interview process each December, coordinated through the local high schools. The contest is open to all 11th grade students attending school in Hancock, Harrison and Pearl River Counties. For more information about the Youth Tour Program, contact your school counselor.
Applications for Youth Tour 2016 will be available in September.
